Surat: Southern Gujarat Chamber has opened new doors of business by organizing an exhibition in America: Ashish Gujarati

Demand for opening of Southern Gujarat Chamber office by Indian-origin entrepreneur in USA

Ashish Gujrathi, President, Dakshin Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that the ‘Global Textile Trade Fair’ exhibition organized by the Chamber in USA has opened the door for Surat traders to do business directly in USA. The exhibition included local buyers, especially sourcing houses, boutique owners, members of the US Hotel and Motel Association, members of the Hospital Association, etc. So there was an overwhelming response not only for clothing, but also for home textiles and clothing.

After exhibition there is a huge demand in Surat for polyester nylon fabrics like chiffon, georgette, satin which are useful in western women’s clothing. Fabrics made of viscose filament yarn are also in demand. The demand for denim and linen has also started. Fabrics made of viscose, linen and polyester as well as PU leather are in great demand among local buyers at the USA Exhibition. There is also a high demand for viscose and lovely silk fabrics.

Hotels in the United States currently have approximately 9 million rooms and increase by 40,000 each year. In such a situation, the possibility of a very big business has arisen for the decoration of the house. The industrialists of Surat participating there have started getting orders. According to an estimate, orders worth US$15 million are expected to be received in the next six months.

The report of the exhibition will be submitted to the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat.

The report of the ‘Global Textile Trade Fair’ exhibition organized by the Chamber in USA will be presented to the Ministry of Commerce and Textiles, Government of India. Also a detailed report will be submitted by the chamber to the Gujarat government.

There is a demand to start permanent office of Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce in USA which will increase exports to USA by 15% only from Surat, Local entrepreneurs associated with the textile industry in the United States have sought to open permanent offices of the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the United States, particularly in Atlanta, New Jersey, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Georgia. He also has a program to contact the local embassy in the USA. The Chamber will also take up the matter with the Government of Gujarat and the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

About $10 billion is exported from India to the United States, while about ₹500 crore is exported from Surat alone to the United States. Therefore, if the Chamber’s office is opened in the United States in the future, the exports from Surat to the USA will increase by 15 percent. That is, exports from Surat alone to America will increase by Rs 150 to 200 crores.
