Surat: Organized an interactive session with the Forest Men of India Padma Shri awardee Jadav Payeng

Jadav Payeng (Molai) converted more than 1300 acres of barren land into lush green forest in Assam

An interactive session has been organized by Dakshin Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry with Dr. Jadav Payeng (Molai) ‘Forest Man of India’ on Monday 12th September at 5 PM at Platinum Hall, Sarsana, Surat. Two hours before the interaction session with Forest Man of India Dr. Jadav Payeng (Molai), a tree plantation program will be organized at Sarsana Campus from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. In which a large number of school-college students of the city will participate and plant saplings. Students will also get tips on planting different types of saplings and their timely monitoring from Dr. Jadav Ko Payeng (Molai).

It is generally said that nothing is possible without teamwork, but Dr. Jadav Payeng (Molai) has proved it wrong. With constant hard work and positive thinking with patience, he single-handedly planted saplings for 30 years which has now turned into a huge forest. He gets up early at 3 in the morning and starts his work and walks three kilometers from the village every day to plant saplings. They planted fruit plants like mango and jamun so that birds, wild animals and humans could eat them. Trees have also grown from the seeds thrown after eating the fruit.

Along with Dr. Jadav Payeng (Molai), students from 25 schools and colleges of the city will plant saplings in large numbers in Sarsana.

Padma Shri awardee Dr Jadav Payeng (Molai) 65 years old from Assam was honored as ‘The Forest Man of India’ for converting 550 hectares (over 1300 acres) of barren land into a lush green forest by the Government of India in New Delhi on World Earth Day in 2010. ‘ was awarded the title. It took them about 30 years to convert the land into a forest and they still protect it today. He started tree plantation in 1979 and continues till date. According to wildlife experts, this forest now attracts 80 percent of the world’s migratory birds. Now this forest is officially called Molai Van.
