Surat: 5 players of SDCA selected in Vijay Hazare Senior Gujarat Cricket Team

Five players from Surat have been selected in Vijay Hazare One Day Cricket Tournament. Gujarat as SDCA’s Bhargava Merai (middle order batsman), Chirag Gandhi (middle order batsman), Shane Patel (pace bowler), Hardik Patel (left arm spinner) and Arya Desai (opening batsman) in the stand-by list Got selected in the cricket team. These players have been selected for the Vijay Hazare One Day Cricket Tournament organized by BCCI in Gujarat cricket team. This tournament will be played in Delhi from 12 November 2022.

Excellent performance by all players

As per information received from Surat District Cricket Association (SDCA) Bhargava Merai has played 66 Ranji Trophy, 41 ODIs, 6 T20 matches for Gujarat. Chirag Gandhi has played 26 Ranji Trophy, 36 ODIs, 65 T20 matches. Hardik Patel has played 17 Ranji Trophy, 30 ODIs, 41 T20 matches for Gujarat team. The three stalwarts of SDCA played a key role in the winning team of Gujarat Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali T20. Also Shane Patel and Arya Desai (stand-by) have been included in the Gujarat Ranji ODI squad for the first time on the basis of their stellar performances in the NCA Zonal, Gujarat Under-19 and Under-25 last year.

All these players are being trained under the supervision of SDCA chief selector Mehul Patel (Sr.), Vimal Patel, Hiren Patel, Praful Patel and coach Vipul Patel.

These five players were awarded to SDCA President Hemant Contractor, Minister Hitesh Patel (Bharthana), Mentor Kanaibhai Contractor, Cricket Secretary Dr. Naimesh Desai and all the members of the Managing Committee and all the members of the Cricket Committee along with all the players to perform well in all the upcoming matches.
