Lasith Malinga Announced Retirement from Cricket: Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga has decided to retire from all forms of cricket, ending an illustrious international career. He gave this information through social media. Malinga played 30 Test matches, 226 ODIs and 84 T20Is for Sri Lanka, in which he took 546 wickets. Malinga last played a T20 match against West Indies in Pallekele in March 2020. Malinga announced his retirement from Tests in 2011 and ODI format in 2019. In January this year, Malinga also announced his retirement from franchise cricket, when he was released by Mumbai Indians. Malinga became the first bowler to take 100 wickets in T20.

Malinga said- ‘My love for sports will never diminish’
Malinga said, “Today is a very special day for me. I want to thank all of you who have supported me throughout my T20 career. Today I have decided to give 100 percent rest to my T20 bowling. I would like to thank Sri Lanka Cricket Board, Mumbai Indians, Melbourne Stars, Kent Cricket Club, Rangpur Riders, Guyana Warriors, Maratha Warriors and Montreal Tigers.”
He said, “Now I want to share my experience with the young cricketers who want to play their national team and franchise cricket. My love for the game will never diminish. We want to see our youth make history. are keen.”
