SP got only one seat

Samajwadi Party has 111 MLAs in Uttar Pradesh. It has eight MLAs from Rashtriya Lok Dal and six from Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party. Thus the total strength of the opposition is 125 MLAs. Apart from this, Congress has two MLAs and Raghuraj Pratap’s Jansatta Dal also has two MLAs. SP will win three Rajya Sabha seats on its own and its allies. But he is getting only one seat. The national president of SP has given two seats to others due to the compulsion of alliance, legal force and the compulsion of internal politics of the party. Think, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha government in Jharkhand is running with the support of 17 Congress MLAs and Sonia Gandhi herself called and talked to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, despite this Hemant did not give one seat to Congress, while Akhilesh left two seats. .

Three Samajwadi Party MPs are retiring. The tenure of Revati Raman Singh, Vishwambhar Nishad and Sukhram Singh Yadav has come to an end. But instead of these three, SP got only one seat. Akhilesh Yadav himself sat down and nominated Kapil Sibal and Jayant Chaudhary, but both are not becoming MPs of his party. Sibal is an independent and Jayant Choudhary will become the RLD MP. Technically only one MP from SP will be elected – Javed Ali. Think, three seats are getting vacant and one seat is getting. That is, being an MLA, there is a direct loss of two seats.

If Akhilesh wanted, he could have put pressure on Sibal to go to Rajya Sabha on SP ticket instead of as an independent. But he didn’t. One was the pressure of Azam Khan and secondly he himself was feeling the need of a big lawyer in Delhi. The compulsion to give ticket to Jayant Chaudhary was because now he has aligned with all the parties in the state except the BJP. He fought elections with almost all parties like Congress, SP, RLD, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party. If you keep on leaving everyone’s side, then it will be difficult to find allies in the future. Therefore, it was necessary to hold the RLD’s side.
