You have always been a great brother to me, thank you for trusting me for so many years. You will always be my captain. Siraj spent his early years of IPL career in Kohli-led RCB. He also made his ODI and T20I debut under the leadership of the former captain. Although he played his first Test in Melbourne under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane.

He has often credited Kohli for what Siraj is a prolific swing bowler today. Kohli, on the other hand, has often praised the right-arm pacer as a match-winner. Hyderabad-born Siraj will never be able to play under Kohli, but will continue to perform together for Team India. Siraj suffered a hamstring injury in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa. There is no update regarding his recovery. But if he is fit, he may get a chance to play in the upcoming ODI series.

The three-match ODI series will start in Paarl from January 19. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, who was out due to injury, KL Rahul will take charge of the team. Jasprit Bumrah will be Rahul’s deputy for this series.
