Madan Bhaiya nominated from Khatauli

Muzaffarnagar. Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD-RLD) candidate Madan Bhaiya filed his nomination papers here on Wednesday for the bypoll to the Khatauli assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh.

Madan Bhaiya along with leaders of RLD and Samajwadi Party (SP) reached the collectorate to file papers for the by-election to be held on this seat on December 5. Madan Bhaiya was declared the candidate of the RLD-SP alliance. After filing his papers, he told reporters that he would contest the bypolls on issues related to farmers, sugarcane arrears, unemployment and minorities.

A senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said here that Rajkumari Saini, wife of Vikram Saini and party candidate from Khatauli seat, may file her nomination on Thursday.

Madan Bhaiya alleged that the BJP was trying to divert public attention from unemployment, rise in prices of essential commodities, problems of farmers and other issues. Madan Bhaiya’s candidature was announced on Sunday from the official Twitter handle of RLD.

Madan Bhaiya was a four-time member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from different political parties. 1991-1993 from Janata Party, 1993-1996 from Samajwadi Party, 2002-2007 as Independent and 2007-2012 from RLD.

At the beginning of his political career, he contested assembly election from Khekra constituency as an independent candidate in 1989 while in jail, but lost. He was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly from the same constituency in 1991, even when he was in jail.
