Shardul Thakur completed his half-century by hitting Chris Woakes for a six. Shardul hit fifty in just 31 balls and with this he broke the record of former England all-rounder Ian Botham. Botham had the record of scoring the fastest half-century in 32 balls in England. Now the fastest fifty on the soil of England has been registered in the name of Shardul Thakur.

Shardul Thakur has become the second fastest fifty for India in Test cricket. The record for India’s fastest half-century is in the name of Kapil Dev. Kapil Dev scored a 30-ball fifty against Pakistan in Karachi in 1982.

However, Shardul Thakur is known for his counter attack. Earlier in Brisbane too, Shardul Thakur had contributed significantly to India’s historic victory. Team India was in trouble after losing 6 wickets for 183 runs. Shardul, playing an innings of 67 runs, shared a 123-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Sundar and laid the foundation for the Indian victory.
