Lucknow. Hathras-like rape and murder have happened again in Uttar Pradesh. In the state’s Lakhimpur Kheri, two Dalit minor real sisters were murdered after being raped and their bodies were hanged from a tree. Not only this, the police have not registered a case of kidnapping and gang-rape despite giving statements of relatives. There is resentment among the people of the village after the incident. However, despite the displeasure of the relatives and villagers, the police conducted the post-mortem of both the minor sisters by assuring them of a fast track hearing and their last rites were performed late on Thursday. The incident happened on Wednesday evening.
Police said that all the six accused involved in the rape and murder case have been arrested. One of them was caught during an encounter on Thursday morning. He was shot in the leg by the police while running. The names of the accused include Suhail, Junaid, Hafizur Rahman, Karimuddin and Arif. The sixth person named Chhotu, a neighbor of the victim’s family, has also been arrested. It was he who allegedly introduced the two sisters to these boys.
The post-mortem has confirmed rape and strangulation of the girls. Police told reporters that the girls were taken to a sugarcane field and raped by Suhail and Junaid. Others helped them destroy the evidence and tied the girls around their necks in their own sardines and hanged them from trees. It is noteworthy that the bodies of two minor sisters were found hanging from a tree in Lakhimpur Kheri around 7 pm on Wednesday. One girl was a student of class 7th and the other of class 10th.
The mother of both the minor sisters alleged that some boys came by bike and forcibly took away their daughters. He raped both of them and then murdered them. On the other hand, the police say that the girls had gone with the boys of their own free will. Therefore, the police have not registered a case of kidnapping. According to the police story, the girls were taken away and raped, when they started talking about marriage, the accused killed them. The post-mortem report confirmed gang rape.
After the incident, the family members have demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore and a government job for one member of the family. On the assurance of the officials, the family agreed to perform the last rites. After about 24 hours, both the minor girls were buried with the rituals on Thursday. The police has assured the villagers and relatives that the hearing will be held in the fast track court and punishment will be given at the earliest.
