Seven tourists including three IIT students died

Shimla. Seven tourists, including three students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Varanasi, were killed and 10 were injured when a passenger vehicle (tempo-traveller) fell into a ravine in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district.

Officials said on Monday that five tourists died on the spot, while two others died on their way to the hospital. He said that three students of IIT located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh are also among the dead.

Kullu Superintendent of Police Gurdev Sharma said that six of the deceased have been identified as Saurabh, Priyanka Gupta, Kiran, Rishabh Raj, Anshika Jain and Aditya. He said that the injured include Rahul Goswami, Kshitiya Agrawal, Priyapal and Ishan Gupta, drivers Ajay Chauhan, residents of Uttar Pradesh, Abhinav Singh and Nishtha Badoni, residents of New Delhi, Rushav, resident of Rajasthan, Lakshya from Rajasthan and Jai Agarwal of Madhya Pradesh, he said.
Banjar MLA and BJP leader Surendra Shourie shared a video on Facebook late Sunday night at 1:45 pm and informed the people about the accident. He said that the injured were first taken to a hospital in Banjar, from where they were shifted to a hospital in Kullu after giving first aid. (Language)
