According to the new figures, there are 1,020 females for every 1,000 males. This is the first time since independence that the population of women has crossed 1,000 in comparison to men. Let us tell you, these figures have come out in the National Family Health Survey – 5 (NFHS-5). Earlier, in the NFHS-4 survey conducted in the year 2015-16, this figure was 991 women per 1,000 men.
