Samrat PrithvirajAkshay Kumar’s magic did not work at the box office. Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar’s recently released film ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ has proved to be a flop at the box office. Due to the decline in the earnings of the film day by day, now this film has been put in the list of flops.
After recording a decline in the earnings of the entire week, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ has ended all the hopes of Akshay Kumar and the makers. ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ was made with a huge budget of around 200 crores. But the film’s earnings are not able to cover even its cost. The film has so far earned only 59 crores.
In the past, people did not reach theaters to see this film. Due to which the owners had removed many shows of the film from theatres. But now the filmmakers have made up their mind to take the film to the people sitting at home. Now Yash Raj Films has made a new plan so that the losses from the film can be minimized. The company has decided to release this film on the OTT platform only after 4 weeks.
If reports are to be believed – Yash Raj Films has kept open ended contracts for its entire 2022 projects. Prices are also locked in this for four to eight weeks. If a film flops, the production house chooses a time frame of four weeks; if it does well, the time is extended to earn good in theatre. Now the production house is planning to release this film on OTT in 4 weeks. The film will be released on Amazon Prime Video.
A similar situation happened with Ranveer Singh’s film before Akshay’s film. It was released on OTT after ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ tasted defeat at the box office. This year Yash Raj has selected only 2 such films which will be released on digital platforms only after 8 weeks. These movies are Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3’ and Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Pathan’.
