SAD expels Jagmeet Brar from the primary membership of the party

Chandigarh. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday expelled Jagmeet Brar from the primary membership on charges of indulging in anti-party activities. The decision was announced by the chairman of the party’s disciplinary committee, Sikander Singh Maluka, after a meeting of the committee.

Maluka said that Brar was personally invited to the committee meeting to give his clarification on the matter, but he did not turn up. Brar, a former MP, was summoned after he claimed that some party leaders had joined his parallel group, called the Integration and Coordination Committee.

Maluka said the party has given Brar enough opportunities to explain his actions. Maluka said, “First a show cause notice was issued to Jagmeet Brar. When the reply was found unsatisfactory in this regard, he was asked to explain his view personally.

He said Brar had requested him to postpone his December 6 appearance before the committee, claiming he had to attend a party worker’s ‘bhog’ ceremony. Maluka, however, decided to attend a public meeting that day organized by the party’s expelled leader Bibi Jagir Kaur. Maluka said it was clear that Brar was plotting against the Shiromani Akali Dal.
