Russia’s aim
The capture of the city of Lisichansk, Kovladimir Putin, will tell his victory. Although it is also true that in capturing here, Russia had to spend more time and power than its anticipated.
Russia has achieved a major objective of its military action in Ukraine. With the capture of the city of Lisichansk located in the Luhansk region, now the entire Donbass region is under its control. It is the last major city in the Luhansk region, which was hitherto held by the Ukrainian army. So now practically the entire Donbass region is controlled by Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin will project it as his victory. Although it is also true that Russia took much longer to capture here than Putin would have guessed. The Donbas region is a major center of coal and steel production. Obviously, the capture here is a big strategic victory for Russia. Apart from this, it is now understood that after the departure of the Donbas region, there will be increased pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to negotiate with Russia and negotiate according to its terms. Russia says that if Ukraine accepts this condition, then a way will be found to end the war. Now Zelensky is not ready for this. But what they think in the changed situation, the eyes of the world will be on it.
However, Russia has achieved two of its goals. Before beginning his “special military operation” in Ukraine on February 24, Putin had set out three objectives. He said the actions would be aimed at liberating the Donbass region from Ukraine, eliminating Nazi-minded groups in Ukraine, and forcing Ukraine not to become a member of NATO. There has been an opinion that the city of Mariapol in Ukraine was a stronghold of Nazi organizations. The Russian army has already established its hold there. So it can be said that Russia has fulfilled two objectives of military action. Nevertheless, it will be remembered that the Ukrainian army fought a long battle on several fronts in Luhansk. To do this in front of the Russian army was not easy. Ultimately he had to be defeated as expected. Now it remains to be seen whether there is any way to end the war soon after this.
