T20 World Cup 2021: T20 World Cup matches are to be played in UAE and Oman immediately after IPL 2021. For Mumbai Indians, who were out of the IPL, in the second phase of the tournament, the form of many of their players remained a matter of concern. Many of these players are also part of Team India for the T20 World Cup. However, Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma believes that the T20 World Cup will be a very different tournament and it will not affect the performance of the team’s players in the IPL.
Let us tell you that India’s squad of 15 players for the T20 World Cup includes six players from Mumbai Indians, including Rohit Sharma. Out of these, the performance of Hardik Pandya, Rahul Chahar and Suryakumar Yadav has not been special in the second phase of IPL. Not many runs have come off Rohit Sharma’s bat. However, Ishan Kishan’s return to form in the last two matches is a good sign for Team India ahead of the T20 World Cup.
What did Rohit say?
Rohit Sharma said, “T20 World Cup is a very different kind of tournament. Things will be completely different here than in IPL. So you cannot base IPL performance on T20 World Cup. Yes form can be a concern . But in IPL we play with a different squad whereas the World Cup squad will be completely different. So I don’t think we should mix these two together.”
Practice games are very important before the World Cup
According to Rohit, practice games will be very important to get the momentum before the World Cup. He said, “The performance of the players of Mumbai team included in the squad for the World Cup has not been good. Although before that we have to play two practice games also. I think any player who is not in form is in these practice games. You’ll find your rhythm.”
Let us tell you that in the T20 World Cup, India has to play its first match against Pakistan on 24 October. Apart from Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah and Rahul Chahar are part of Team India from Mumbai Indian side.
