Dehradun. On the occasion of Uttarakhand State Foundation Day, Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh (S.R.) and Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the main program organized at Police Lines, Race Course on Wednesday. On this occasion the Governor organized a rathik parade. He inspected and took salute. Governor also honored police officers who received ‘President Police Medal’ for distinguished services. On this occasion, Uttarakhand Police Patrika 2022 was released by Governor and Chief Minister.
Chorgalia police station of Nainital district was awarded as the best police station. In the main program of the State Foundation Day, Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Secretary) and Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami also honored the dignitaries of Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman Award-2022 and Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman Award-2021. Honor letters, trophy and a check of one lakh rupees were given to the dignitaries who were honored with Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman. From Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman 2022, National Security Advisor of India Shri Ajit Doval, poet writer, lyricist and Chairman of Censor Board Shri Prasoon Joshi, former Chief of Defense Staff Late. General Bipin Rawat, poet writer and lyricist late Girish Chandra Tiwari ‘Girda’, litterateur and journalist late. Shri Viren Dangwal was felicitated. Whereas with the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman of 2021, the former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Late. Shri Narayan Dutt Tiwari, environmentalist Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi, litterateur Shri Ruskin Bond, Smt. Bachendri Pal in the field of adventure sports and Shri Narendra Singh Negi in the field of culture and folk art were honored. Giving greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Uttarakhand State Foundation Day, Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Seni) saluted all the known-unknown, immortal martyrs and agitators associated with the Uttarakhand State Movement. On this occasion, he told the people of the state that on this occasion we need to take two resolutions. First to follow traffic rules and secondly to make every part of Uttarakhand a role model for cleanliness campaign. He said that by following traffic rules, we can reduce road accidents to a great extent. Road accidents can be reduced by following all the rules while driving on the road by sacrificing overloading in vehicles by getting the vehicles fitness done on time. The Governor said that tourists from all over the country and abroad come here, our roads, tourist places, river-ghat tracks should be kept clean, only then we can become a role model of cleanliness campaign.
The Governor said that on the occasion of State Foundation Day, we have to set three goals for ourselves – Immediate Goal, Intermediate Goal and Century Goal. The Immediate Goal, that is, the immediate achievable goal, is to decide what Uttarakhand will be like by 2025 when we are celebrating 25 years of our establishment. Intermediate goal, how will Uttarakhand be by 2030 i.e. at the end of the third decade. This is the decade we have to make ours. About which the Prime Minister has also said. Third, the Century Goal, i.e. by 2047 when India will be celebrating 100 years of its independence. The last step of the elixir of freedom. Then in what form Uttarakhand will be, we have to decide on this occasion.
The Governor said that Uttarakhand has been famous in the country and abroad for school education over the years. State universities are being encouraged to create centers of excellence. He said that education in schools and colleges should be such that students get employment, society should find solutions to their challenges, the benefit of studies on the principle of lab to land must go to the villages, poor and backward people. He said that for the development of the state, it is necessary for the governance, administration to be clean and transparent and corruption free. Concrete steps have been taken by the state government in this direction. Corruption free app 1064, CM Helpline 1905 are big steps in this direction. Steps like Apni Sarkar Portal, e-office, e-cabinet have been taken in the direction of good governance.
Governor said that maintaining good law and order in Uttarakhand is very important. Tourism and investment can be encouraged here only by peaceful atmosphere and good law and order in the state. He said that commendable work is being done by Uttarakhand Police during Chardham Yatra, Kanwar Yatra and during disaster. Apart from this, Uttarakhand Police also has an important role to play in preventing crimes like traffic, cyber crime, women crime, drugs in changing times. The Governor said that there is a huge increase in the number of tourists in the state, for this we have to promote homestays in the villages. Homestays are being built in the state under a campaign, it needs to be strengthened.
The Governor said that I am happy that the state government has decided to make Uttarakhand organic brand. Uttarakhand can become a huge supplier state for organic farming, herbs, off-season vegetables and fruits. We also see many different success stories in these areas. He said that many people have got good success in producing and exporting Mushroom, Rajma, Paneer, Apple, Peas. The products of Bedu in Pithoragarh have earned a name at the national and international level. He said that I do not see any reason why we cannot become the best state among all the states of India.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has said that the third decade of the 21st century will be the decade of Uttarakhand. I am sure that every child of Uttarakhand will try to prove the truth of the Prime Minister. From the formation of the state till now, Uttarakhand has made its special place on many parameters of development. The Governor said that if it is said that 22 years are unmatched, then it will not be wrong but a lot is yet to be done.
