Reservation movement started again in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Another agitation for reservation has erupted in Rajasthan, which has been in discussion about the reservation movement of different castes. This time the people of Mali, Saini, Kushwaha and Maurya Samaj have started agitation demanding 12 percent reservation. On Sunday, their Mahapanchayat was held and after that thousands of people took to the streets to protest. In view of their agitation, internet was stopped in four towns of Bharatpur on Monday. It was told by the administration that the internet has been shut down to prevent the spread of rumours. Bharatpur Divisional Commissioner Sanwarmal Verma shut down internet in four towns for 24 hours from 11 am on Monday.

However, the Mali, Kushwaha, Saini and Maurya communities claim that they constitute 15 per cent of the state’s population and therefore they should be given a separate 12 per cent reservation. Hundreds of people from these castes took to the road with sticks in their hands and blocked the Agra-Jaipur highway in Bharatpur. This highway has been jammed since Sunday. In view of this, Cabinet Minister Vishvendra Singh appealed to the protesters and said that they should end the jam on the highway and start talks with the government.

The government has authorized cabinet minister Vishvendra Singh and the divisional commissioner to hold talks with the representatives of the agitators. Regarding his demand, Laxman Singh Kushwaha, patron of the Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, said – The people of the society are demanding reservation under the Constitution. He said that it has been provided in the Constitution. The castes which are very backward, they can be given reservation at their level by the state government. It has nothing to do with the center.

Kushwaha said – Kachi society comes in the most backward. The population of Kachi community is 12 percent, so we are asking for reservation on the basis of population. Have met the Chief Minister regarding this. The Chief Minister had assured that it would be considered, but till date no thought has been given. After which the people of the society have been forced to do a wheel jam.
