Ravi Shastri gave indications, Virat Kohli may also leave the captaincy of ODIs and Tests

Virat Kohli May Step Down from ODI and Test Captaincy: Ravi Shastri, the former head coach of the Indian cricket team, believes that Virat Kohli can quit the captaincy from ODIs and Tests after T20 Internationals to deal with the pressure related to Corona. Shastri’s tenure with the team has come to an end with India’s early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup being played in the UAE.

When asked about Kohli’s captaincy in a news channel program, Ravi Shastri said that he can leave the responsibility of leadership from other formats for better management of the workload. He said, under his captaincy in Test cricket, India has been at the top for the last five years. He wouldn’t want to leave her until he felt mentally exhausted. However, he may quit the captaincy to focus on batting in the near future.

The former head coach further said, “It will not happen immediately, but it can happen. It can happen with white ball cricket (in limited overs format) as well. He can say that he is now just focusing on Test captaincy. Want to concentrate. A lot of successful players have given up captaincy to focus on their batting.

Shastri further said, “He (Kohli) definitely has the hunger to do well in the game, he is fitter than anyone in the team. No doubt about him. When you are physically fit, then the game I grow old. In terms of captaincy, it will be his decision. But I see he can say no to white ball cricket, but in red ball cricket he should continue. Because he was the best captain in test cricket. Huh.”

Asked about India’s World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev’s allegations of players preferring IPL over country, Shastri said, “After the IPL was postponed in April, they (BCCI) had no option. I don’t think it will happen again in future. As far as Kapil is concerned, he is right about the IPL schedule as it has increased the fatigue of the players.
