RailTel will run ‘Common Service Center’ at 200 railway stations, passengers will get many services

Common Service Center from Railtel: RailTel will operate Common Service Center (CSC) kiosks at around 200 railway stations. This scheme has been operated in partnership with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited. This is a great convenience for the people commuting at the railway stations. According to the Railways, two Common Service Centers (CSCs) have already been operated at Varanasi City Station and Prayagraj City Station in Uttar Pradesh on a pilot basis. These kiosks have been named ‘Railwire Saathi’. These kiosks will be operated by Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) of Common Service Centres.

These services can be benefited
As a part of this unique public-friendly initiative RailTel, a Public Sector Undertaking of the Ministry of Railways has launched a scheme to operate Common Service Center (CSC) Kiosks (Stalls) at Railway Stations across India. This effort will help people commuting to and from railway stations to avail various services offered by ‘Common Service Center services’ at the station itself. Services offered by Common Service Center services include booking of travel tickets (train, air, bus etc.), Aadhar Card, Voter Card, Mobile Recharge, Electricity Bill Payment, PAN Card, Income Tax, Banking, Insurance etc.

The scheme has been operated in partnership with ‘CSC e-Governance Services India Limited’ (CSC-SPV), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. These kiosks will be operated by village level entrepreneurs.

What is Railwire Saathi Kiosk
These kiosks have been named ‘Railwire Saathi Kiosks’. Firstly, RailWire Saathi’ Common Service Center Kiosk has been commissioned on a pilot basis at Varanasi City Railway Station and Prayagraj City Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh. Similar kiosks will be operated phase wise at around 200 railway stations. Out of these 44 are in South Central Railway, 20 in Northeast Frontier Railway, 13 in East Central Railway, 15 in Western Railway, 25 in Northern Railway, 12 in West Central Railway, 13 in East Coast Railway and 56 in North Eastern Railway.

One of the world’s largest centralized Wi-Fi networks
RailTel has provided public Wi-Fi (under the brand name ‘RailWire’) at 6090 stations, of which 5000 are in rural areas, which is one of the largest integrated Wi-Fi networks in the world. Using this existing infrastructure at stations, RailTel, in partnership with ‘Common Service Centre’, plans to provide broadband services in rural areas which seeks to bridge the digital divide and fulfill Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Digital India. will move in that direction.

What RailTel CMD said
In this regard, CMD/Railtel, Puneet Chawla said, “People in rural areas are often forced to take advantage of various e-governance services or digitization facilities due to lack of infrastructure and resources as well as lack of knowledge of how to use the internet. Difficult to obtain. These RailWire Saathi Kiosks will bring these essential digital services at rural railway stations to help the rural population.

Talking about the partnership with RailTel, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Tyagi, Managing Director, CSC-SPV said that access to digital services in rural India is often hampered due to lack of connectivity in remote villages. With the availability of RailTel’s Wi-Fi and Kiosk infrastructure at railway stations, our village level entrepreneurs will be able to take our services to the masses.
