The India Jodo Yatra of Congress is going on in Kerala only. Rahul Gandhi is leading it. The crowd is also fine during this journey. But the question is also whether the other provinces of the country through which it will pass, will it show the same enthusiasm as it is seen in Kerala? Congress is the main opposition party in Kerala and Rahul himself has been elected MP from there. The Congress government has been formed several times in Kerala. It competes with the Marxist Communist Party, but during this journey the whole emphasis has been against the BJP, while the BJP’s presence in Kerala is negligible.
In the other states of the South where this yatra will go, will the target of the Congress remain on the BJP? If the goal of this yatra is to free the BJP from power, then its maximum intensity should have been visible in Gujarat, but this Bharat Jodi Yatra is not able to connect itself with Gujarat. Even in the Gujarat of Gandhi and Sardar Patel, the roots of the Congress have started to shake. There too the drums of Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP party have started ringing.
In the states where there are Congress governments, those states will unite the ground and sky in gathering crowd for Rahul, but in the states where there are non-Congress governments, if the Congress can show some light, then it will be considered that India is not connected, Congress So at least stay connected. What is there in the gimmick of this India-Jodo Yatra apart from self-promotion and save Congress? What message are the people of India getting during this visit?
Apart from condemning the BJP government and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, what are the Congress leaders doing? They keep doing this work while sitting in Delhi. They have neither a new message, nor a campaign, nor a map of India’s neo-nirman. What Congress leaders are giving inspiration to the people of the cities and villages through which this journey is passing, to take some new resolutions? They themselves are helpless.
How can they inspire people to make new resolutions? During this visit, if Rahul had made lakhs of people take a pledge that they would not take bribe, do not indulge in adulteration, would not spread communalism, would not consume intoxicants, would put their signature in their own language, etc., then they would have changed the surname Gandhi with Rahul. Could have done a lot. If this ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ becomes just Congress Bachao Yatra, then it will be inauspicious for Indian democracy.
