Rahul Gandhi’s Long March

Those who are viewing this journey in the context of election, They may be in for a serious setback when the election results come out. In fact those who are able to see it as a long march, They are in a position to understand its importance better.

Bharat Jodo Yatra The experience of the early days in Karnataka shows that Rahul Gandhi and his fellow travelers are succeeding in touching the sentiments of a large section of the society. Karnataka is special because it is the first state on the journey to be ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Despite this, neither the effect of the journey has decreased nor its speed has been broken. After the way Rahul Gandhi addressed a gathering of thousands of people amid heavy rains on Sunday, people have also started saying that a leader is rising. Perhaps the beauty of the yatra is that those who are feeling suffocated under the current central government regime, are getting an opportunity to express their feelings by participating in the yatra (or seeing people’s participation in it).

Yet there is no credence to speculations that the yatra will lead to a miraculous rebirth of the Congress and put the party in a position to challenge the Narendra Modi-led BJP in the 2024 general election. For the time being, it can be said with full confidence that those who are watching this yatra in the electoral context, may be in for a serious setback when the election results come out. In fact, those who are able to see this as a long march are in a position to understand its importance better. Looking at the statements of Rahul Gandhi himself, it is clear that he embarked on this journey because he saw the democratic process stagnant and the possibility of change from it was minimal. So they set out on a journey that has the potential to rebuild society over a long period of time, but which doesn’t have the potential to create any instant charisma. It is necessary that if a new beginning is made in the society according to the declared principles of the Yatra, then its final result will definitely come in the form of political change. But that’s a long time.
