Rahul Dravid: Former India captain Rahul Dravid has applied for the post of head coach of the national team. News agency PTI has given this information quoting sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Dravid has applied for the post of coach of Team India on Tuesday.

A senior BCCI official said that yes, Rahul Dravid has formally applied today as it is the last day of the deadline. Bowling coach Paras Mambre and fielding coach Abhay Sharma have already applied for the NCA. His application was just a formality.

Dravid had recently met BCCI President Sourav Ganguly in Dubai. According to the information, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and President Sourav Ganguly held a meeting with Rahul Dravid on the night of IPL final in Dubai. In this meeting, the BCCI board tried to know from Rahul Dravid, what he wants and what the board can offer him.

Rahul may get contract till 2023

Let me tell you, some time ago Rahul Dravid had refused to become the coach, but after many efforts of BCCI, he agreed to it. BCCI sources told ABP News that Rahul Dravid can get a contract till the year 2023. Dravid is currently the coach of the Indian junior team and heads the National Cricket Academy.

Ravi Shastri’s tenure is till T20 World Cup

Team India’s head coach Ravi Shastri’s tenure is going to end after the T20 World Cup. Shastri does not want to extend his contract. Ravi Shastri has turned 59 years old. He has been associated with Team India for the last seven years. In 2014, Ravi Shastri was associated with Team India as a director. In 2016, however, Ravi Shastri had to stay away from Team India for a year after Anil Kumble became the coach. Being the first choice of Virat Kohli, Ravi Shastri returned to Team India in 2017 as a coach.
