Putting up tents outside strong rooms not against rules: Manish Garg

Shimla. Himachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Manish Garg has said that it is not against the rules for workers of Congress party or any other political party to camp outside the strong room. Garg said here on Tuesday that agents of any political party can camp outside the strong room.

Providing them facilities comes under the duty of the Election Commission. Political parties camping outside the strong room is not a new thing. Regarding the complaint received from the BJP, he said that he has forwarded the complaint to the district officials. No work will be done in the state outside the purview of the rules.

Voting for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections has been completed on November 12. No incident of violence was reported from anywhere in the state including tribal districts in the polling which was held in one phase. That is, the voting was settled peacefully. Election results will come on December 8. On November 12, polling was held in the entire state including the tribal districts.

Meanwhile, Congress party workers have pitched their tents outside the strong room in several assembly constituencies. Himachal BJP has written a complaint to the Election Commission regarding this. It is noteworthy that the votes cast in all the 68 constituencies of Himachal Pradesh are captured in EVMs. Since last week, these EVMs are imprisoned in a three-tier security cordon.

He told that according to the parameters, monitoring of EVMs is being done. Not only this, all the EVMs locked in strong rooms are also in the sight of third eye (CCTV) cameras. In such a situation, there is a fear of their being hacked, stolen and rigged. Many leaders have been blaming their defeat on EVMs.

For the one who wins the election, EVM becomes the safest, most reliable and the embodiment of the modern electronic age. But if defeated then this EVM starts being called villain, unreliable and unsafe.
