IPL 2021: Before the start of the second part of the Indian Premier League season 14, the trouble of Punjab Kings has increased. Two Australian players have refused to join the Punjab Kings team in the UAE. Punjab Kings have found a replacement for one of these players while the search for the other is on.

According to the information revealed, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith will not join the Punjab Kings in the UAE. Both these players were bought by Punjab Kings earlier this year by paying a huge amount. Jhye Richardson was given Rs 14 crore while Meredith was paid Rs 8 crore.

A Punjab Kings official said, “Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith have decided to stay out of the remaining matches of IPL 14. We are looking for replacements for these two players. Replacements will be decided on the advice of coach Anil Kumble.

Nathan Ellis joins the team

Punjab Kings, however, on Thursday signed Australia’s Nathan Ellis as a replacement. Ellis recently came into the limelight with a hat-trick in his debut match. No information has been revealed about the price at which Punjab Kings bought Ellis. However, Punjab Kings are still looking for their second replacement.

Punjab Kings, however, did not manage to perform well in the 14th season of the IPL despite spending huge sums of money on Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith. Playing 8 matches in IPL 14, Punjab Kings have won only three. It is very difficult for Punjab Kings to reach the playoffs. Punjab Kings will have to win five out of their remaining 6 matches to make it to the next round.
