Punjab Elections: Arvind Kejriwal named Bhagwant Mann as AAP’s CM candidate

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced the name of Bhagwant Mann as its CM candidate for the Punjab Assembly Election 2022. Delhi CM and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has announced this on Tuesday. Talking to the media, Kejriwal said that Bhagwant Mann has got more than 93 percent votes through phone and WhatsApp.
Who is Bhagwant Mann- Bhagwant Singh Mann was born on 17 October 1973 in Sangrur district of Punjab. After his initial studies, he did his graduation from Shaheed Udham Singh Government College. Mann became famous for his comic timing right from college time. He participated in Youth Comedy Festival and Inter College competitions. Where he got two gold medals. Before joining politics, Mann was known only as an actor and comedian. He has also worked in many Punjabi films.
Entry into politics Bhagwant Mann, who took a dig at politicians and satirized politics, entered the world of politics in 2011. In early 2011, Mann joined the People’s Party of Punjab and also contested from the Lehra constituency. However, here he had to face defeat.

Bhagwant Mann joined AAP ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and entered the fray from his home district, Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency. Then Mann had won by a large number of votes. Mann’s victory made him the face of AAP in Punjab. After this, in the 2017 assembly elections, he contested from Jalalabad against Sukhbir Singh Badal and Ravneet Singh Bittu. From where he lost the election to Badal by a margin of 18,500 votes.
Re-elected Lok Sabha MP- After the defeat in the assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party again fielded Bhagwant Mann for the Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur in 2019. Mann stood up to Kejriwal’s expectations this time and won again.
