Punjab Election: When Bhagwant Mann vowed not to drink alcohol at AAP’s rally, there are two stories with PM Modi in Parliament

Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann mostly wears Basanti colored turban. Those who know him closely tell that he associates this color with Sardar Bhagat Singh, so he mostly wears a turban of this color.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced the name of Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann as its CM candidate for the 2022 Punjab Assembly Elections. Bhagwant Mann was famous for comedy before joining politics, but after joining politics, the opposition took a jibe at him for his addiction to alcohol. Tired of these allegations, Bhagwant Mann spoke openly on this issue during an AAP rally in January 2019 and resolved that he would never touch alcohol again.

“Yes, I used to drink alcohol sometimes”

Bhagwant Mann said, “I have to admit that I used to drink alcohol at times. My political opponents accuse me. They say that Bhagwant Mann remains intoxicated day and night. Brothers, I feel sad when I see my old videos on social media. Today my mother is here, she told me that people defame me on television. My mother told me to give up alcohol. I have given up alcohol since January 1 (2019). Now my opponents cannot defame me.

Kejriwal said – won the heart

After this announcement of Bhagwant Mann, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal expressed happiness and said, “Friends, Bhagwant Bhagwant Mann has won my heart. Not only mine but he has won the hearts of entire Punjab. Leaders should be like those who are ready to sacrifice in any way. Taking such a big resolution is not a small thing.

Manish Sisodia praised for quitting alcohol

Expressing happiness over Bhagwant Mann’s announcement of giving up alcohol, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia tweeted, “At Barnala rally, Bhagwant Mann announced that he has resolved not to touch alcohol from January 1. He promised on stage in front of his mother and the people of Punjab that he would devote his whole heart and wealth to the service of Punjab.

When PM Modi said in a packed Parliament, Bhagwant would have asked him to drink something else

It was in February 2017 when PM Narendra Modi was giving a speech in Parliament. He was speaking during the discussion on the President’s address. During this, he recited some lines of Charvak while talking about the economy in his own style. PM Modi said, “Yada jeevet sukham jeevet, loan kritva, ghritam peevet, that means as long as you live, have fun, do debt and drink ghee. Now there were such old rites that the Charvak talked about drinking ghee, otherwise if God would have respected, he might have asked to drink something else.

When PM Modi gave water to Bhagwant Mann in Parliament

Another anecdote of PM Modi with Bhagwant Mann is very popular. In 2015, Bhagwant Mann was raising slogans against PM Modi in Parliament. He was shouting slogans along with Congress and TMC members in protest against CBI raid at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s office. Bhagwant Mann’s throat dried up while shouting slogans. Incidentally, when Bhagwant Mann was raising slogans, he was with PM Modi. When PM Modi saw that Bhagwant Mann’s throat was dry and he needed water, PM Modi raised the glass kept on his table and pointed it towards Bhagwant Mann. Bhagwant Mann drank water, looked at PM Modi with gratitude and started shouting slogans again.
