Platform ticket prices were increased from Rs 10 to Rs 50 at most stations across the country. However, later it was reduced. Railways do this to reduce the congestion on the platform. The Northern Railway including the South has also been doing this kind of work during the festive season. During Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath, the main railway stations here are very crowded. Hence platform ticket prices are increased at railway stations like Delhi Junction, New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin.
