Priority under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana

As you all know that the second wave of corona virus infection is going on in the country. Due to which there is a lockdown in many states. Keeping this in mind, it has been announced to provide ration under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. Efforts are being made to reach ration to all the eligible beneficiaries through this scheme. Through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, priority will be given to the citizens of the economically weaker sections of the country such as road dwellers, garbage collectors, hawkers, rickshaw pullers, migrant laborers etc. This information was provided by Sudhanshu Pandey, Secretary, DFPD.

Scheme extended till September 2022

It has been decided by the central government to extend the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana for 6 months. This has been announced by the Central Government on 26 March 2022. For which Rs 30.40 lakh will be spent by the government. Now through this scheme free ration will be provided to the beneficiaries till September 2022. This information was also provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a tweet. More than 80 crore citizens of the country will be able to take advantage of this scheme. This scheme was announced after the implementation of the lockdown in March 2020.

The purpose of implementing the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana is to ensure the availability of ration to every citizen due to coronavirus. More than 5 kg of food grains are provided to every citizen through this scheme. All the citizens of the country who have ration card can get 5 kg additional ration per month under this scheme along with ration from their quota.

759 lakh metric tonnes of food grains allocated for 80 crore beneficiaries

As you all know Prime Minister Garib Kalyan by Government of India in March 2020 Package was announced by the Government of India in March 2020. Under this package, additional and free food grains were distributed to 80 crore beneficiaries of National Food Security Act through Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. The scheme was launched with the objective of providing food security to the needy citizens to face the economic constraints caused by the pandemic. Through this scheme, the amount of monthly food normally distributed to priority households was doubled.

For distribution of food grains to about 80 crore NFSA beneficiaries from the first phase to the fifth phase of this scheme, 759 lakh metric tonnes of food grains have been allocated to the states and union territories. This is equivalent to about Rs 2.6 lakh crore in food grain subsidy. So far about 580 lakh metric tonnes of food grains have been distributed to the beneficiaries.

Five phases of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana

Initially, the operation of this scheme was announced for only 3 months which was April 2020, May 2020 and June 2020. This was the first phase of the plan. After this the second phase of this scheme was announced from July 2020 to November 2020. Due to the continuing crisis of the Kovid-19 epidemic in the year 2021-22, it was decided by the government in April 2021 to extend the scheme for the period of May 2021 and June 2021. This was the third phase of the plan. After this, the fourth phase of this scheme was also operated by the government which was from July 2021 to November 2021. After this, it has been decided to continue the fifth phase of this scheme from December 2021 to March 2022.

The benefit of free ration scheme will be provided till May 2022

The cabinet meeting was organized by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 20 December 2021. In which it has been decided to extend the distribution of free ration for 6 months. Now the citizens of Delhi will be provided free ration till 31st May 2022. This information was provided by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal through a digital press conference after the cabinet meeting. Under the National Food Security Act and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana , the Delhi government is distributing free ration to the beneficiaries. Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana was launched last year due to coronavirus infection.

  • Earlier this scheme was started from April to June, after which this scheme was extended till November. In May 2021, a decision was taken by the Delhi government to provide additional free ration to the needy.
  • 5 kg food grains were provided to all the needy including migrant workers, unorganized workers, construction workers, domestic helpers (who do not have ration cards) as per the eligibility prescribed under NFSA. Due to which the number of non PDS poor beneficiaries has increased to 40 lakhs.
  • 4 kg of wheat and 1 kg of rice are provided per person per month. Till now 20 lakh citizens have been benefited through this scheme. Apart from this, free fertilizer money has been made available to 7.2 million beneficiaries under NSS.

Phased allocation and distribution of food grains

During the year 2020-21 – The first and second phase of this scheme was operated in the year 2020-21. For a distribution period of 8 months, 321 lakh metric tonnes of food grains were allotted to the States and Union Territories. Out of which the States and Union Territories have reported the total distribution of 298.8 LMT of food grains to an average of about 94% NFSA population which is 75 crore beneficiaries per month across the country.

During the year 2021 22- Phase 3, Phase 4 and Phase 5 have been conducted in the year 2021 22, whose information is as follows:-

  • Phase 3 – Phase 3 has been conducted from May 2021 to June 2021. During the third phase, 79.46 lakh metric tonnes of food grains have been allocated by the government for the distribution period of 2 months. Out of which States and Union Territories have reported distribution of 75.2 MLT food grains per month to 95% NFSA population on an average. Which means that 94.5% food grains have been allotted to about 75.18 crore beneficiaries.
  • Phase 4 – Phase 4 has been conducted from July 2021 to November 2021. In this phase, 198.78 lakh metric tonnes of food grains have been allocated by the government to the states and union territories for a distribution period of 5 months. Out of which information about the distribution of 186.1 LMT food grains has been provided by the Union Territories and States. Under which 93% of the beneficiaries have been covered. Which means that 93.6% food grains have been allocated to about 74.4 crore beneficiaries.
  • Phase 5- Phase 5 will be conducted from December 2021 to March 2022. The government has allocated 163 LMT of food grains to all the states and union territories for a distribution period of 4 months. Out of which 19.76 LMT food grains have been distributed to the beneficiaries so far.

Distribution of ration done through one nation one ration card

One nation one ration card scheme was also launched by the government. Through which ration can be obtained through one ration card in the entire country. States like Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh have recorded the maximum limit of inter-state portability transactions for distribution of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana from Phase I to Phase IV. Is. Similarly, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand recorded maximum number of international portability transactions under this scheme from Phase I to IV. 5 kg rice per person to be provided in Odisha by March 2022

Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has instructed to distribute additional 5 kg rice per person to the beneficiaries of State Food Security Scheme on 11th December 2021. This distribution will be provided free of cost for 4 months. Additional rice will be provided to all scheme beneficiaries by March 2022. Due to this distribution, the beneficiaries enrolled in the Food Security Scheme will get the benefits at par with the National Food Security Act. 288528 families of 915532 families registered under this scheme will be the beneficiaries. 4571 tonnes of rice per month will be distributed to the beneficiaries. A total of 18310.64 tonnes of rice will be provided to the beneficiaries for 4 months. For which Rs 68.13 crore will be spent by the government.

A grand campaign of ration distribution will be organized in Uttar Pradesh

On 12 December 2021, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to start a Maha Abhiyan for distribution of ration. This information was provided by the state government that this campaign is the biggest ration distribution campaign in the country so far. The benefit of this campaign will be provided directly to the Antyodaya and domestic ration card holders. Under this campaign, double ration will be distributed to Antyodaya ration card holders and eligible families. This ration will be distributed to more than 15 crore ration card holders. All MPs and MLAs have been instructed to monitor this campaign.

Through this campaign, the economically weaker citizens, laborers and farmers of the state will also be benefited. Apart from this, the UP government will also provide free wheat and rice twice a month to the ration card holders. Food, oil and salt will also be provided free of cost through ration shops.

The scheme will be extended till March 2022.

As you all know through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana , more than 80 crore beneficiaries are provided 5 kg of food grains per month. The scheme was launched in April 2020 for 3 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then the scheme has been expanded 4 times. A statement was made by the Food Secretary on 5 November 2021 that no extension of this scheme after 30 November 2021 would be done due to the improvement in the economy. But it has been decided by the cabinet on 24 November 2021 that this scheme will be extended till March 2022. This information was provided by Union Minister Anurag Thakur. Under this fifth phase, a fertilizer subsidy of Rs 53344.52 crore will be allowed on food. Apart from this, the total cost of this scheme will reach up to 2.6 lakh crores.

Scheme expanded by Delhi government

So far , four phases of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana have been implemented. Under the fourth phase, additional food grains have been allocated by the government till November 2021. Through this scheme free ration of 5 kg per person per month is provided. This scheme was started in the year 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It has been decided by the Delhi government to extend this scheme till May 2022. The Center has been urged by the Delhi Government to extend this scheme to all the states. Keeping in view the people who have become unemployed due to Kovid-19, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has urged the Center to expand the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.

On 7 November 2021, this information has been provided by Sudhanshu Pandey, Secretary, Department of Fertilizers and Public Distribution, that there is no proposal to pursue this scheme. This decision has been taken in view of the improvement in the economy under the OMSS policy and good disposal of fertilizer money in the open market.

Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana will be extended till Holi in Uttar Pradesh

As you all know Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana was started with the aim of providing free ration during the Corona call. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji has now decided to extend this scheme till Holi. This information was provided by the Chief Minister on 3 November 2021. Earlier it was decided to extend the scheme till November. But now it has been decided by the government to provide the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana till Holi. 15 crore citizens of Uttar Pradesh have benefited through this scheme. Apart from this, information was also given by the Chief Minister that along with 5 kg rice or wheat and 1 kg pulse, 1 liter cooking oil, salt and sugar will also be provided.

Prime Minister will interact with the beneficiaries of the scheme

On August 5, 2021, the Prime Minister of our country, Shri Narendra Modi , will interact with the beneficiaries of Garib Kalyan Yojana . Under this scheme, ration distribution process is going to start from August 5, 2021 and Van Mahotsav will also be organized. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will interact with the beneficiaries of selected fair price shops of Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Moradabad, Hamirpur, Ayodhya, Barabanki, Shahjahanpur, Kaushambi, Agra and Bahraich through video conferencing. About 100 beneficiaries will be present at each fair price shop on Van Mahotsav and arrangement of television will also be ensured at fair price shops. So that the beneficiaries present there can see the conversation. The responsibility of ensuring the availability of food grains at every fair price shop has been entrusted to the District Supply and Marketing Officer.

Expansion of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana

l The fourth phase of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana has been started by the government. Under which it has been announced to allocate additional food grains to the beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act by 30 November 2021 . This information has been given by the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs. This decision has been taken in a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on 23 June 2021. While addressing the nation on 7 June 2021, it was announced by the Prime Minister that this scheme will be extended till Diwali. The first Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana was started for 2 months due to Coronavirus infection. For which an expenditure of Rs 26,602 crore was estimated.

Total allocation of 204 metric tonnes of manure will be done

Now about 80 crore NFSA beneficiaries will be provided additional 204 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer money through Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. The entire expenditure on this scheme will be borne by the Central Government. On which ₹67,266 crore will be spent. Apart from this, the allocation of wheat and rice will be done by the Department of Food and Public Distribution. This scheme can also be expanded by the department keeping in view the unfavorable conditions. The expansion of this scheme has also been appreciated by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. 80 crore people will get free food through Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. Last year also, through this scheme, 80 crore beneficiaries were provided 5 kg food grains for 8 months.

Food grains provided to NFSA beneficiaries in May 2021 and June 2021

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, more than 63.67 lakh metric tonnes of food grains have been taken from FCI depots by the states and union territories. Food grains have been distributed by the Central Government to 55 crore NFSA beneficiaries in 34 states and union territories in May 2021 . This food distribution is about 28 lakh metric tonnes. Apart from this, about 1.3 lakh metric tonnes of food grains have been distributed to 2.6 crore NFSA beneficiaries in June 2021. While distributing the manure, the covid protocol has been fully followed. Food grains have been distributed to 90% and 12% (respectively) of NFSA beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act in May and June 2021. For which an amount of Rs 13000 crore has been spent by the government.

Prime Minister’s Garib Kalyan Yojana extended till Deepawali

The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana was started by the Prime Minister of our country, Narendra Modi, due to Coronavirus infection. Through this scheme free food grains are made available to all the beneficiaries. All those beneficiaries who come under the purview of NFSA will be provided 5 kg of food grains per person per month under this scheme. The government has now decided to extend the scope of this scheme till Diwali. This information has been provided by the Prime Minister himself in his address to the nation. Under which about 80 crore beneficiaries will get free food grains by November 2021.

The work of supplying food grains all over the country by FCI is going on fast so that food grains can be reached to all the states and union territories. During May 2021, 1433 food grains have been provided through FCI at the rate of 46 rakes per day. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana , the entire cost of food subsidy, inter-state transport and dealer margin/additional dealer margin will be borne by the Government of India without any state or union territory sharing.

Food grains lifted by states and union territories

Under this scheme, 69 LMT has been supplied by the Food Corporation of India to all 36 states and union territories till June 7, 2021. Of these, the allocation for May-June 2021 has been fully lifted by 13 states and union territories. These states include Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Goa, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry, Punjab, Telangana and Tripura. Apart from this, the allocation for May 2021 has been fully lifted by 23 states and union territories.

Including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Daman Diu, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal are included. 100% of the allocation has also been lifted by 5 North Eastern States. These five states include Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. The lifting of food grains is also going on by Manipur and Assam and soon 100% lifting will be done by these states also.

Expansion of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana in 2021

This scheme was launched by the government in March 2020. This scheme is a part of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package. Through this scheme, 5 kg food grains (wheat/rice) and 1 kg pulses are given to the ration card holders by the central government. This scheme was started from April 2020 to June 2020. In view of the outbreak of Corona virus, this scheme was extended till Chhath Puja. This year, the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana will be provided by the government in May 2021 and June 2021. This information has been provided by the Home Minister of our country Shri Amit Shah ji through a tweet.

  • All ration card holders can get 5 kg of food grains for free through this scheme. About 80 crore people will be provided 5 kg food grains in May 2021 and June 2021. For which an amount of Rs 26000 crore will be spent by the government.
  • A special feature of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana is that as many people whose names are registered in your ration card, 5 kg of food grains will be provided to them.
  • For example, if the names of 4 people are registered in your ration card, then you will be provided 20 kg of food grains. This grain will be different from the grain received every month. This means that if you get 5 kg food grains on ration card in 1 month then you will be provided 10 kg food grains. You can take this grain from the same ration shop from where you get ration every month.

New insurance cover for Corona Warriors under PMGKY

The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana was launched by the Central Government on 26 March 2020, keeping in mind the poor at the time of Corona epidemic, under which various types of facilities were provided to the people of the country. But during the announcement made on Monday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has claimed to settle the current claims of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana by 24 April 2021 to create a new cover for Corona Warriors. The Ministry tweeted in relation to Corona Warriors that the insurance cover available under PMGKY will be settled by 24 April 2021 and a new distribution will be provided to Corona Warriors immediately thereafter.

  • In the new cover by the insurance companies including the ministry, an insurance cover of up to ₹ 500000 will be provided to the warriors.
  • Simultaneously, it was told by the ministry by tweeting that the ministry has spoken to the insurance companies for this new insurance cover.
  • The main objective of providing this cover is to boost the morale of the COVID-19 warriors who have played a vital role during this pandemic.

Pradhanmantri Garib Kalyan Yojana 3.0

The Prime Minister of our country, Narendra Modi, while taking forward the incentive assistance under this scheme, preparations are being made to start the third phase of PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, under this scheme to deal with the financial problems due to corona virus. Preparations are being made to bring the third stimulus package by the central government. On the basis of reports, in the third incentive package under this scheme, free food grains will be provided to the poor people of the country till March next year. The central government is planning to extend the duration of this scheme for social security. Cash transfer scheme can also be included under this scheme. According to the report, in the third stimulus package, the government can transfer hair to 20 crore Jan Dhan accounts and 3 crore poor old people, widows, disabled people.

Number of grains allotted and distributed in PMGKY 2.0
