Mumbai Indians beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets, Hardik Pandya scored 40 runs

Punjab Kings gave Mumbai a target of 136 runs in the 42nd match of the tournament played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, which Mumbai achieved by losing 4 wickets in 19 overs. Batting first, Punjab had scored 135 for six in 20 overs. Kieron Pollard and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each for Mumbai, while Krunal Pandya and Rahul Chahar took one wicket each.

Mumbai’s team achieved the target of 136 runs given by Punjab by losing 4 wickets in 19 overs. Pandya got the team to victory with a six. With this, the Mumbai team has returned to the winning track in the second half of the IPL. Hardik Pandya played an aggressive innings of 40 not out off 30 balls, apart from him, Pollard also scored 15 not out off 7 balls. Mumbai needed 16 runs to win in 2 overs, which Pandya achieved in the 19th over as well. He scored 17 runs in Shami’s over. Saurabh Tiwary contributed 45 runs for Mumbai.

Earlier, Punjab openers captain Lokesh Rahul and Mayank Agarwal made a slow start and both shared a 36-run partnership for the first wicket. This growing partnership was broken by Krunal by dismissing Mandeep. Mandeep scored 15 runs in 14 balls with the help of two fours. Soon after, Chris Gayle, who came to play at number three, got out after scoring just one run. Pollard dismissed Gayle and sent him to the pavilion. Captain Rahul was looking in good rhythm but he too could not last long and was dismissed for 21 runs in 22 balls with the help of two fours.

Pollard also took Rahul’s wicket. After this, Aidan Makram took over the innings but wickets were falling continuously from the second left. After the dismissal of Rahul, Nicholls Pooran (2), who came to bat, was dismissed by Bumrah and gave a blow to Punjab. After this Harpreet Brar (14 not out) and Nathan Ellis (6 not out) took the team to a respectable position.
