Politics of keeping Fadnavis balanced

The top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra has made former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Deputy Chief Minister but is not giving everything in his hands. As the Chief Minister from 2014 to 2019 and after that as the Leader of the Opposition, the entire BJP in the state was in a way handed over to Fadnavis. All decisions were made according to him. But the picture has completely changed after Eknath Shinde’s rebellion. Now Fadnavis has to do what is being told from Delhi. Chandrakant Patila becoming a minister in the state government and Chandrashekhar Bawankule becoming the state president in his place is an example of this.

Keep in mind that Fadnavis did not give assembly ticket to Bawankule in the 2019 elections as the Chief Minister. He is a big leader of Vidarbha and is considered special of Nitin Gadkari. He also had good relations with Fadnavis. But it is said that Fadnavis cut his ticket. Later, on the intervention of the party high command, he was sent to the Legislative Council recently. Think, those who did not get the assembly ticket three years ago were made the state president! The party appointed Ashish Sellar, a close aide of Fadnavis, as the head of the Mumbai Regional Committee, while Bawankule was made the state president. Earlier, Chandrakant Patil, who was the state president, was made a minister in the government. Keep in mind Patil is considered a balancing factor. His joining the government is part of the balancing act. This time Fadnavis will have to work very thoughtfully.
