UP: Nursing studies in government medical colleges from November

Lucknow. UP is emerging as a new destination in the field of nursing in the country. The Yogi government has made a radical change in the nursing sector. The quality of education is also being increased in educational institutions. In view of this, in the first phase, 11 more government medical colleges are going to start studying B.Sc Nursing from November. Along with this, nursing will be taught in the remaining other government medical colleges from the next session.

After the expansion of medical colleges in the last tenure of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, now the plan to meet the shortage of nursing and para-medical personnel is taking off. This will improve health services and youth will also get employment. Along with this, a new identity of Uttar Pradesh will be made as a nursing hub in the country. In the first phase, in 11 districts of the state, Jalaun, Ambedkar Nagar, Saharanpur, Badaun, Banda, Azamgarh, Ayodhya, Basti, Bahraich, Firozabad and Shahjahanpur Medical College will start education from November. For this, building will be built on PPP mode in medical colleges. Till the time the building is built, nursing will be taught in the buildings of government medical colleges only. Counseling is going on for the admission of students on behalf of Atal Bihari University Lucknow and Directorate.

Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Medical Education, said that the recruitment process for teaching students to other posts including professors is about to be completed. The Directorate General has issued an advertisement for recruitment to the posts of Principal cum Professor, Vice Principal cum Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Tutor, in which about one thousand applications have been received. The process of appointment to these posts is going on through interview and written test. Apart from this, necessary equipment, books, computers etc. are being procured with an amount of Rs 18.96 crore for setting up skill labs in 24 medical colleges through National Health Mission.

In the year 2021-22, the Yogi government has opened seven new B.Sc Nursing colleges in the state medical colleges. Earlier, since independence, there were only five B.Sc Nursing colleges in the state sector in the state, which has become 12 due to the opening of seven new colleges this year. With the start of teaching work in 11 more nursing colleges, the number will now increase to 23. (IANS)
