PM Gati Shakti: NPG extends 250 infrastructure projects from October, 2021

New Delhi. The Network Planning Group (NPG), constituted under the PM Gatishakti initiative, has reviewed over 250 critical infrastructure projects of various ministries since October last year and recommended them to be taken forward. These projects are in sectors like rail, road and port.

An official of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry gave this information. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Gati Shakti-National Master Plan on October 13 to bring down the cost of logistics and develop integrated infrastructure. All logistics and connectivity infrastructure projects with an investment of more than Rs 500 crore are taken forward through the NPG constituted under the PM Gati Shakti initiative.

“During the last one year, more than 250 infrastructure projects have been screened using the National Master Plan and the PM Gatishakti Institutional Framework. These projects include infrastructure projects related to last mile connectivity through rail, port and road for sectors like agriculture, food, steel and coal.

The use of the National Master Plan (NMP) portal is helping central and state governments reduce the time and cost of critical infrastructure projects. The official said that the use of the portal has now reduced the unforeseen bottlenecks.

Access to the portal is restricted to government authority only. It is used to identify critical deficiencies and plan projects. So far more than 26 states have integrated various categories of data with this portal.
