Perarivalan’s release, Congress blames the Center
New Delhi, The Congress party has targeted the central government in the case of the release of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination convict AG Perarivalan from jail. The Congress has said that Perarivalan’s release was because of the central government. Terming as “unfortunate” the Supreme Court’s order to release Perarivalan, the Congress party on Wednesday alleged that the Narendra Modi government had created such a situation that the court had to pass the order.
Congress’s media in-charge Randeep Surjewala said that this attitude of the government regarding terrorism is condemnable. He told reporters- the decision of the Supreme Court is unfortunate. This has hurt the sentiments of crores of Indian citizens, as the court has acquitted an assassin of Rajiv Gandhi. The facts are very clear and the Modi government is responsible. He said- On September 9, 2018, the then Anna DMK and BJP government of Tamil Nadu sent a recommendation to the then Governor Banwarilal Purohit that all the seven convicts of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination should be released. The governor did not take any decision. He shrugged off and sent the matter to the President. The President also did not take any decision.
Surjewala claimed that the delay and the decision not taken by the BJP government-appointed governor led to the release of one of the killers. Now all the guilty will be released. He asked- Modi ji, is this your nationalism? Is it your way of not taking any decision and on that basis the court should release Rajiv Gandhi’s killer? Surjewala said that on the basis of which the decision has been taken, thousands of Tamil prisoners should be released and there are lakhs of life imprisonment prisoners in the country, they should also be released.
