PAN-Aadhaar linking deadline extended till March 2022

PAN-Aadhaar Linking: The deadline for linking PAN and Aadhaar has been extended again by the Income Tax Department. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) issued a statement saying that its deadline has been extended by six months to 31 March 2022. Currently, its deadline was 30 September 2021.

The CBDT said that in order to overcome the hardship being faced by various stakeholders due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the time limit has been extended, which will facilitate compliance. It further states- The deadline for intimation of Aadhaar number to the Income Tax Department for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended from September 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

Along with this, the date for imposition of penalty under the Income Tax Department Act has been extended from September 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Further, the deadline for issuing notices and passing orders by the Adjudicating Authority under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 has been extended up to March 2022.
