One killed, 58 injured in Kerala bus accident

Idukki. A passenger was killed and more than 58 people were injured when a State Transport Corporation bus fell about 15 feet at Neriamangalam near Idukki in Kerala. The injured have been admitted to Kalamassery Government Medical College in Ernakulam.
The incident took place on Monday morning near Cheiyappara and Neriamangalam in the hills district, a senior police official said. He said, according to the updated information, one person has died while the condition of the other person also seems to be critical. We do not currently know the cause of the accident. The bus fell about 14-15 feet from the slope.
The police also said that they suspect that the tire of the bus may have burst due to which the accident happened. The bus was going from Mannar to Ernakulam. Bus operator Subhash said that there were 60 people in the bus. Subhash said that as soon as the accident happened, local people immediately reached the spot and started the rescue work. The driver said that a vehicle coming from the opposite direction had hit the bus. It was raining heavily, the windows were closed and I couldn’t see much. (PTI)
