Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is in a lot of headlines these days for his Pakistani friend Arusa Alam. In fact, Captain Amarinder Singh’s friend Arusa is being accused of having links with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Meanwhile, some Congress leaders have also become attackers on the former Chief Minister. It is being told that this friend of the captain used to visit his house for years. Even Arusa Alam attended the swearing-in ceremony of Amarinder Singh.

Arusa Alam was seen with Captain Amarinder Singh for the first time in the inaugural ceremony of Jalandhar Press Club in the year 2005. During that time the media was very much impressed by Arusa’s good looks and her acquaintance with Amarinder. There was talk that during that time the state government held a press meeting with Arusa in Chandigarh, in which Arusa described Amarinder as her “good friend” and discussed India-Pakistan relations.

Amarinder Singh had visited Pakistan twice during his tenure and had invited his counterpart Parvez Elahi for the Punjab-to-Punjab summit. This is where the relationship started.

A friend of Arusa, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told that after dinner meetings at the chief minister’s residence, ministers and officials not only said goodnight to Arusa but also said bye to her pet Shih Tzu.
