Odisha bypolls: Naveen Patnaik among BJD’s star campaigners, four Union ministers to campaign for BJP

Bhubaneswar. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik along with his cabinet colleagues will campaign for Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Varsha Singh Bariha in the December 5 bypoll to Padmapur assembly seat in Bargarh district.

The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state has named Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnav, Arjun Munda and Bishweshwar Tudu as star campaigners for its candidate Pradeep Purohit for the bypoll. At the same time, the Congress has also released the list of its star campaigners, in which All India Congress Committee (AICC) state in-charge Dr A Chella Kumar, AICC secretary G Rudra Raju, party’s state unit president Sharat Patnaik, Congress Legislature Party leader Narsingh Mishra is included.

The party has nominated Satya Bhushan Sahu as its candidate for the bypoll. Besides Patnaik, the ruling BJD’s 40-member list includes senior leaders Pranab Prakash Das, Prasanna Acharya and state ministers RP Swain, PK Deb and Atanu S Nayak.

The BJP named its state unit president Sameer Mohanty, Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly Jayanarayan Mishra and former MP Baijayant Panda as its star campaigners for the bypoll. Newly elected Dhamnagar MLA Suryabashi Suraj will also campaign for the BJP candidate in Padmapur. Bhasha Ravi Kant Dilip
