Russia turns down offer of peace talks

moscow, Russia has turned down an offer to hold peace talks in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol. Keep in mind that before this there have been several rounds of peace talks in Istanbul, Turkey. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday rejected Kyiv’s offer to hold peace talks in Mariupol, saying it was too early to say who would mediate on what issues.

Lavrov’s statement came after talks between him and UN Secretary-General Antonia Guterres in Moscow. He also said that Russia is committed to finding a diplomatic solution to this problem. Significantly, Guterres has arrived in Moscow on a three-day visit. He will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. Guterres also met with Turkish President Erdoan before coming to Moscow. After the meeting between these two, President Putin also spoke to President Erdoan on the Ukraine issue.
