More than 100 people associated with PFI were also arrested during the raids.

Central investigative agencies have taken major action on PFI, this action is being taken in 10 states on behalf of National Investigation Agency, Enforcement Directorate and State Police at its associated bases. More than 100 PFI cadres have been arrested in 10 states during the raids. Most of the arrests made by the agencies have been those who were protesting around the spot during the raids and all of them are members of PFI.

The central government was continuously monitoring the functioning of PFI for the last several months and was keeping a watch on the work of their cadres by holding big meetings.

These raids are being carried out in residential and official premises of people involved in financing terrorism, organizing training camps and radicalizing people to join banned organisations. It is believed that more than 200 NIA officers and members of the raiding team conducted this raid.

Sources told news agency ANI that since midnight, NIA and Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials have been raiding the homes of PFI leaders, including PFI President OMA Salam’s house and PFI office at Manjeri in Malappuram district. During the raid, PFI activists also staged a sit-in protest outside OMA Salam’s house in Malappuram.

Raids at more than 100 places

In the last few days, the NIA has registered more than a dozen cases related to PFI. According to NIA sources, in the recent past, the agency has conducted raids at more than 100 places in connection with the PFI links in the country.

Recently on September 18, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at several places in several districts of Andhra Pradesh and PFI members were also picked up for questioning in connection with inciting violence and illegal activities. The officials also raided a house in Telangana’s Nizamabad district and issued a notice to a person who visited the NIA office in Hyderabad. 23 teams of NIA officers conducted simultaneous searches in Nizamabad, Kurnool, Guntur and Nellore districts.
