Have courage to listen when PM speaks about our leaders: Congress

New Delhi. The Congress on Thursday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that when he speaks about its leaders and elders, one should also have the courage to listen. The main opposition party alleged that Prime Minister Modi had insulted Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi several times and also made fun of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inside Parliament.

Referring to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s ‘Ravana’ remark, Prime Minister Modi said on Thursday that there is a race among leaders of the main opposition party to abuse him. Prior to Kharge, senior Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry had made a comment against Modi about showing ‘aukat’.

Hitting back at the Prime Minister for his latest attack, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “What about when the Prime Minister on several occasions insulted Sonia Gandhi in the most despicable terms and made fun of Dr. Manmohan Singh in Parliament?” Congress’s media and publicity chief Pawan Kheda said, “He keeps talking about our leaders and elders, so have the courage to listen.”

Words like ‘Jersey cow’, ‘Congress’s widow’, ‘Shurpanakha’ ‘bathing in the bathroom wearing a raincoat’ have been used by the Prime Minister himself. It is noteworthy that Kharge said while addressing an election rally in Gujarat on Monday. It was said that the Prime Minister asks people to “vote after seeing his face” in all elections. Kharge had asked, “Are you like Ravana with 100 heads?” Kharge’s remarks were termed by the BJP as an insult to the people of Gujarat.
