Yogi government’s emphasis on health facilities on a large scale

Lucknow. The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is planning to set up over 700 Urban Health and Wellness Centers (UHWCs) in the state. With its opening, people in Uttar Pradesh will be able to get medical consultation near their homes.

Lucknow’s District Health Education Officer Yogesh Raghuvanshi said, the process has started. We have identified the places where UHWCs will be opened and we will issue advertisements for rent in those areas. An official statement said on Friday that 108 urban health and wellness centers are to be opened in Lucknow in a phased manner. 14 diagnostic facilities will be provided to the patients at these centres. In addition, the test to detect cervical cancer will take place once the medical staff is trained to conduct it.

The UHWC will have an outpatient department (OPD) room, another room for vaccination, a waiting and registration area, a health room and a separate day care room. The size of each room is fixed. For example, OPD will be 100 sq ft room and waiting room and registration will be 210 sq ft. UHWCs are being opened in districts with an urban population of more than 50,000.
