New Delhi | Air Pollution Capital Delhi : The ever-increasing air pollution in Delhi remains a matter of concern. A few days ago, schools and colleges were also closed due to this. Now according to the latest report, 2021 has emerged as the world’s most polluted capital for the fourth consecutive year. Last year, 35 of the world’s 50 cities with the worst air quality were in India. This has been claimed in a new report. This report has been released by the Swiss organization IQ Air, it was released globally on Tuesday. The report said that in 2021, no city in India could meet the air quality standard (PM-2.5 concentration of five micrograms per cubic meter) set by the World Health Organization (WHO).

More than 6 thousand cities of 117 countries were involved
Air Pollution Capital Delhi : This report, which describes the state of air quality globally in the year 2021, is based on data related to the presence of PM-2.5 fine particles in the climate of 6,475 cities in 117 countries. In this, Dhaka (Bangladesh) is second, Enzamina (Chad) third, Dushanbe (Tajikistan) fourth and Muscat (Oman) fifth in the list of most polluted capitals. According to the report, the level of PM-2.5 fine particulates in New Delhi has increased by 14.6 percent in 2021 and it has increased from 84 micrograms per cubic meter in 2020 to 96.4 micrograms per cubic meter in 2021.

35 of the 50 most polluted cities in India
Air Pollution Capital Delhi : The report said that 35 of the 50 most polluted cities in the world are in India. The annual average level of PM-2.5 in the country reached 58.1 micrograms per cubic meter in 2021, putting an end to the improvement being recorded for three years. The annual average level of PM-2.5 in India has reached the level before the lockdown in 2019. It is a matter of concern that no Indian city has met the WHO standard of five micrograms per cubic meter in 2021. The report also revealed that 48 percent of the cities had PM-2.5 particulate matter levels in excess of 50 micrograms per cubic metre, which is ten times the standard set by the WHO.
