Monkeypox: EU buying additional vaccine doses

Brussels. The threat of monkeypox has reduced but European countries are still taking precautions. They are accumulating to purchase additional vaccine doses in addition to monkeypox so that immediate relief can be provided to the victims. The European Union (EU) has recently acquired more than 10,000 ticovirimat vaccines.

Crisis Management Commissioner Janez Lenarcic said, “The threat of monkeypox is similar to that of unforeseen pandemics such as the corona pandemic. Created to protect against monkeypox virus, these doses will provide an additional level of protection for our citizens and will be the first to reach the infected persons.” Stella kyriacides, the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, said the risk of monkeypox has reduced but not completely avoided.
