Moeen Ali first English player to win IPL trophy: Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Moeen Ali has become the first player from England to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy. CSK won the trophy for the fourth time by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final of IPL-14 played in Dubai on Friday. CSK defeated KKR by 27 runs while defending 192 runs.
Moeen Ali was bought by CSK in the 2021 auction. He scored 37 runs in 20 balls in the title match, which was important in the team’s victory. Batting first, CSK scored 192 runs for the loss of wickets in 20 overs. KKR got off to a great start chasing 193 runs.
Shubman Gill (51) and Venkatesh Iyer (50) shared a 91-run partnership for the first wicket. After the dismissal of these two batsmen, KKR’s innings collapsed and they could only manage 165 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. In the match for CSK, Shardul Thakur took three wickets for 38 runs in 4 overs.
