Liquor case: Question on summons of Durgesh Pathak!

New Delhi. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has said that the Enforcement Directorate has summoned Aam Aadmi Party’s municipal election in-charge Durgesh Pathak in connection with the probe into the excise policy. He questioned the summons sent to Pathak asking whether the ED was targeting the liquor policy or the MCD was targeting the elections.

Sisodia said that what does our MCD election in-charge have to do with the excise policy of the Delhi government? Is liquor policy on their target or MCD elections? However, there is no official confirmation of the summons being sent from the ED yet. The MCD elections in Delhi are likely to be held by the end of this year after the delimitation of 270 wards is completed.

Last week, the ED had raided 40 places across the country in connection with the Excise Policy 2021-22 of the Arvind Kejriwal government. The CBI has registered an FIR in connection with the alleged irregularities in the policy and named Sisodia as an accused. The Kejriwal government appointed Lieutenant Governor V.K. The policy was withdrawn in July after Saxena recommended a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the implementation of the policy. (Language)
