Lessons of Shiv Sena-Crisis

Lessons of Shiv Sena-Crisis

It can be assumed that the sun has set for the coalition government in Maharashtra. Even if Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is ready to give the post of Chief Minister to the rest of his leader Eknath Shinde, this coalition government is not going to run, because Shinde is absolutely against the policy that Thackeray has towards Congress and Nationalist Congress Party.

The biggest complaint of the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs is that Thackeray has not only handed over important ministries to the Congress and NCP for the sake of his chair, but he does not care at all for the MLAs of Shiv Sena. Apart from this, the serious complaint of almost all Shiv Sena MLAs against Thackeray is that the Chief Minister does not give time to meet even his MLAs. To whom should the MLAs go to address the grievances of their electors?

The leaders who have been active in Shiv Sena for years, are also angry that Shiv Sena left the Hindutva BJP and Uddhav Thackeray sat on the lap of Congress against whom Balasaheb Thackeray had formed Shiv Sena. Uddhav broke the years-old relationship with the BJP, not because of any ideological difference, but because of personal rage and hatred and allegations and counter-allegations. He runs Shiv Sena not like a political party, but like an army.

Every Shiv Sainik is compelled to say yes to his commander. More than the army, this party has become a private limited company. Just as Uddhav has settled on Balasaheb’s chair, so he is ready to put his son Aditya in his chair. These same sparks which were in the minds of other Shiv Sena leaders are manifesting in the form of flames today. Uddhav Thackeray has left the Chief Minister’s residence after hearing about Shinde’s 2/3 majority. He is giving such statements as if he does not care about the post of Chief Minister.

They are saying whether the government should stay or go, lakhs of Shiv Sena workers are with them. But after the fall of this government, these Shiv Sena workers do not know where will they go? Will they consider Shinde as their leader or Uddhav Thackeray? It is clear that Shinde will no longer join hands with Congress and Sharad Pawar. His coalition government will now be formed with the BJP.

The BJP would happily give him the post of Deputy Chief Minister. To teach a lesson to Uddhav Thackeray, BJP can also give Shinde the chief minister’s post. This sequence of events can prove to be a big lesson for all the leaders of the country. First, political parties should not be allowed to become private limited companies and secondly, the political leaders should not be arrogant.
