Kutchi-Jain youth who went to America to study was murdered by his roommate, wave of mourning in the family

Indianapolis resident Varun Manish Chheda was found dead in Macchion Hall on the west end of Purdue University campus

Recently, a case of kidnapping and murder of an Indian family came to light in America and now another such case has come to the fore. Varun Manish Chheda, a 20-year-old Indian student studying data science in Indianapolis, USA, was murdered. Varun was murdered by Jimmy’ Sha, a Korean roommate who lived with him in the same hostel. After the murder, there has been a wave of mourning in the Jain community of Kutch.

The deceased Varun originally belonged to Mundra.

According to local media reports, the youth’s roommate has been taken into custody after the murder. According to the preliminary post-mortem report, Varun died due to “several traumatic injuries sustained on the body”. The deceased Varun’s grandfather Nemshibhai was originally from Kundrodi village in Mundra taluka and moved to the US in 1965, where he started his engineering career. Varun’s father Manishbhai is a doctor by profession.

In this case, the police arrested the accused roommate of the deceased, 22-year-old student Jimmy Shaw, who is a junior cyber security major from South Korea. Varun’s father and grandfather have good family relations with the Jain community of Kutch and the family of Mumbai. Due to this there is an atmosphere of sorrow in Kutch Jain society and Mumbai family after this incident. It is worth mentioning that Bhuj President Jigar Chheda also expressed grief over the incident and said that Kutch society has lost a promising youth.

University expressed condolences

Varun’s murder is the first murder on the campus of Purdue University in more than eight years. University President Mitch Daniels said Varun’s death was “a very sad event that happened on the university campus, which we cannot even imagine.” “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this horrific incident,” he said.
