Whenever a tree is cut, five saplings will be planted in its place: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

The country is considering another facility to reduce traffic problems and improve traffic through the ever-increasing road and highway network. The heat is also increasing due to the cutting of trees for the construction of roads. This will improve with the initiative of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Not only this, now the journey on the highway will be more enjoyable. He said that there is a need to think of new ways to save trees. If this is not done then there will be a lot of problems in road construction.

During the National Highway Excellence Awards, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will open its ‘Tree Bank’ to maintain greenery on the highways. He stressed the need for tree plantation on the roads. Gadkari said that whenever any tree is cut for construction, five saplings will be planted in its place. Also expressing concern over the deaths in road accidents, Gadkari said that efforts would be made to reduce this figure to 50 per cent by 2024. Along with this, he said that there is a need to think of new ways to save trees. If this is not done then there will be a lot of problems in road construction.

Earlier, Gadkari had said that star rating will now be given on the basis of crash testing of the car. He said the new evaluation program ‘Bharat NCAP’ provides a system under which vehicles in India will be given a ‘star rating’ based on their performance in crash tests. This move of the government is being seen as a step to reduce the accidental deaths.
