Women cricketers will get the same fees as men

New Delhi, A historic decision has been taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Now women cricket players in India will get match fee equal to that of male players. This decision to bring equality in the fees of men and women players was announced by the secretary of the board, Jay Shah. Before India, New Zealand had taken this decision. There men and women players get equal fees. Consideration is being given to implementing this rule in Australia.

However, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said on the official Twitter handle of the Board – I had promised that BCCI will bring equalization in match fees of players of men and women cricket team. This is a step taken in that direction. He further wrote – Now women cricketers included in the Central Contract List of BCCI will get the same fees as the players of the men’s team. Soon after the announcement, Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised the decision and said it would inspire other girls of the country to take up cricket.

It is worth noting that women players included in the central contract currently get four lakh rupees for a Test match. At the same time, the match fee for both ODI and T20 is one lakh rupees. Getting the fees equal to that of men would mean that now the fees for women players in Test matches will be Rs 15 lakh. At the same time, a match fee of Rs 6 lakh will be given for ODIs and Rs 3 lakh for T20. Earlier, the New Zealand Cricket Board had signed a contract with the Players Association at the beginning of the year and implemented this rule. There now men and women players get equal match fees. The Australian Cricket Board is currently working on it.
