Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Emergency’ banned in Bangladesh

Mumbai The much-awaited film ‘Emergency’, directed by Kangana Ranaut, has been banned in Bangladesh. The neighboring country took this decision due to the current tense relations between India and Bangladesh. The film ‘Emergency’ is based on the emergency declared in India by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975. According to a source close to the matter, “The decision to stop the screening of ‘Emergency’ in Bangladesh is related to the current strained relations between India and Bangladesh. This ban is less due to the theme of the film and more due to the ongoing political tension between the two countries. ‘Emergency’ reflects the role of the Indian Army and Indira Gandhi’s government in the 1971 Bangladeshi War of Independence and the support given to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, known as the ‘Father of Bangladesh’.
